You just need to focus on saturation your base/expansion asap, get some forges out, cybernetics core (enough to upgrade all champions's ability by the end of the game), and make sure to hit gateway's 10 number limit somewhere along the way. Because the heros and calldowns are plenty strong by their own. But the catch is that there is plenty, and I mean PLENTY of room for errors if you don't pick the most optimal decisions. I mean, there still are: aside from Artanis himself, you still need to pick which other heros you want to summon first/abilities/stats upgrades to prioritize. For Artanis? There's not a lot of options to pick from. For Tassadar, my issue is if beginners don't understand the concept of early game build order, they easily get swashes by attack waves or early objectives demands of many maps. But for Protoss, Artanis takes the cake for beginner friendly for me. I'm still experimenting with commanders so far. This post is solely to get more people into the game mode, because I feel like more engagement means longer support. Ill try to answer any questions you all have, but im by no means an expert for this mod.Įdit: I feel like I should mention that i'm in no way affiliated with the team that made Nexus Coop. Also, if you end up doing this solo, make sure to kill the coop AI workers asap, as you may need the minerals and gas later. Your first stop is to clear the top right corner of the map, as that contains the expansion bases for you to take over. Expect to have to replenish your troops after each fight, right up to your supply limit. Just pick the commander you want, set their masteries (I just do an even 15/15 split on all of them until i know what im doing), and then launch the mission with your selected commander.Įach red marking on the map is an enemy position thats well defended. Hanson for Zerg, built around the special infested and summoning the unique enemies you see in the Dead of Night coop mission.Īnd finally, Tassadar for Protoss, who can play any way you want, because he has an extra building he starts with that contains upgrades for various play styles, depending on whether or not you want a Gateway based army, a mech based army, or maybe a flying army.Īll 3 are fairly straight forward, with minimal reading required. Valerian for Terran, who is very mech heavy. The most simple commanders in my opinion are: Who to pick? Well, the fact is you'll have to do some decent reading no matter who you pick, and not all of it will be in the best English, as the mod is made by Chinese players. Enemy waves will never spawn to attack you in this mode, and you'll be able to test out builds to whatever extent you wish, at your own pace. This a special game mode specifically for testing out commanders. For starters, go to the very bottom right corner, where it says "Standard Coop" and change this to Proving Grounds. You'll load into a commander select screen, Where you'll pick who you want to be. Don't worry, you're not getting thrust into a game with an unfamiliar commander. Go into it, create a lobby, and launch the game solo. Ignore the ones that show 4 player mode or PvP for now, you can try that later. Do a search for Nexus Coop (made by author NexusCoop) and pick the one that says exactly that. Go to Campaign -> custom at the top of the menu. This will not be an in depth guide on which commanders are better or worse than others, although i will recommend the simplest ones to learn.įirst, the setup. Well, this small guide is here to help you get started. If like me, you're finding the regular coop mode a bit stale, perhaps you'd like to spice things up a bit.
